What is Botox and How Does it Work?

Botox or Botulinum Toxin is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. This protein is use in cosmetic and medical procedures usually in the face that enable controlled weakening of the muscles. Botox is used to treat moderate to severe brow furrow, uncontrollable blinking, lazy eye, wrinkles and facial creases. Non-cosmetic procedures include treating cervical dystonia, writer’s cramp, sweating, chronic pain, neuropath and migraines as well.

Botox works to relax the muscles by blocking nerve impulses. The muscles are no longer able to contract, which causes wrinkles to soften and relax. It may take up to four to six days to see full results of Botox and usually last about four to six months. Several treatments may be required, but the more it’s done, the wrinkles return less severe and the muscles are slowly trained to relax.

Botox is chosen my millions of women and men a year and is continually growing to control fine lines and wrinkles, and maybe be the only “permanent” treatment there is.

Do we recommend it? Well that’s not up for us to decide! Weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section below!
