How To Make Makeup Last: Makeup Primer 101

Primers need to be used under every makeup application. The biggest question in the beauty industry is “Why doesn’t my makeup last all day?”

Primer acts as a “glue” for foundation, if there is not primer under the foundation, the foundation has nothing to “stick” to. Primers are available for every skin type.

For dry/normal skin, you should avoid silicone primers. Creamy, light formulas brighten and hydrate the skin, leaving a “working canvas” for makeup.

Combination/oily skin needs primer too. A silicone based primer should be used with this skin type. This has a mattifying effect on the skin, leaving it shine free.

When applying a primer, a little goes a long way. Use a dime size amount for the entire face and apply to all areas with clean fingers. Then you can proceed to foundation application.
