How to Do A Smokey Eye

Bold. Deep. Dramatic. Glam.

If any of these words apply to you and you haven’t done a smokey eye yet… well.. now is the perfect time to start. Smokey eyes are best done with deeply pigmented eyeshadow and can really be done in the spectrum of colors (even light shades) as long there is a darker color to accent. Here’s a walk through from our cosmetologist as to how to do a smokey eye on yourself and a link to one of our Facebook posts with a visual walk through!

  1. Choosing a color is the first thing to do when creating a smoky eye. You can stick with multiple shades in the same color family or a main color and a different color to accent.
  2. Apply primer or concealer on the top lid to give the shadow some “staying power.”
  3. Pencil along the lash line with a black or brown liner
  4. Brush on a light color on the entire lid (pearl shimmer or champagne color)
  5.  With a light hand use a slightly darker color, cover the middle of the lid, fanning out towards the crease
  6. Trace along with crease and brow bone toward the corner of the brow bone with a much darker color (dark brown, charcoal)
  7. Apply a nude shimmer on the brow bone to highlight (light brown, tan, light gold shimmer)
  8. Blend entire eye with a soft shadow brush to remove any harsh lines.
  9. Remove any powder that may have fallen under the eye
  10. Use a white eyeliner under the bottom lash line to define the upper lid
  11. Curl lashes
  12. Apply two coats of mascara
