My favorite hack when using beauty sponges is to soak it in water for about 2min so that way it doubles in size making makeup application quick and flawless. I use a large sponge for foundation and a tiny one for concealer and nose contouring.

My favorite tip for using sponges is that they are great for blending out liquid or cream highlight. The sponge can be damp or dry. However, when it’s damp it gives me that dewy look (glow) that I strive for. I also like to use for blending out cream contour and setting powder.

When it comes to makeup sponges there are many ways of using the sponges. I personally have a few different sponges with different shapes. For my foundation i prefer the typical egg shape. For powder i prefer the flat edge shape. A big tip is to wash the sponges after each use so you have a fresh clean sponge every time you sit to apply makeup. Lately, after washing my sponge I have put my sponge into a little dish with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. The alcohol has helped clean my sponge even deeper and sterilizes it as well. I mostly use my sponge damp; however, when I need my foundation to remain full coverage I will use my sponge dry…or apply my foundation with a brush and then use the dry sponge to take away any streaks from the brush.

Check out this so not weird blender sponge tip!

I love sponges in general, being a person with extremely dry skin during the winter months, i tend to reach for sponges rather than brushes. My tip is kind of weird and hard to explain but I love applying creme blush and cream highlighter with sponges but with the same sponge so almost mixing both on the cheek so the application is seamless.

I love using a sponge to apply concealer, its perfect for this because it allows me to not apply too much of it since i find a sponge tends to soak up just a bit of product. And for that same reason I also like using a sponge to apply foundation when I want a light or sheer application or when I don’t want full coverage but still want to use a full coverage foundation. Sometimes I’ll also use a sponge after applying my foundation with a brush, I’ll go in with a sponge just to make sure there’s no extra product left and get that flawless, airbrushed finish! Best of both worlds, brush+sponge!!

Quick Tip for Applying Setting Powder with a Sponge

My favorite tip/hack for using makeup sponges is using them dry to apply setting powder to my face. I keep a separate sponge to use for this purpose. First, I apply the concealer to my face and blend it out with a wet makeup sponge. Next, I dip the dry sponge into setting power and press it into the areas that I applied the concealer (under my eyes and in my t-zone where I get the most oily). Lastly, I lightly dust off any excess powder in those areas with a brush.

For application I’ve found my groove this year! Using a pointed side at a 45° I find I can bounce out my concealer easily and I can use the opposite side to blend out cream highlighter without fear of the wrong color being placed. My concealer is usually always a touch lighter than my skin so it helps as the highlighter is placed that it may be blended with a bit of concealer. The flat side is my jam for contouring cheeks!!! I feel like a flattened side pinched gives me the best contouring application in my makeup game! I hold it pinched while close to my contour area but then release the pinch still using the full flat side to blend out the rest of my bronzer and blush. It really gives a beautiful natural blend both pinching and using full flat surface area. I prefer a dampened sponge and I keep a bar of soap next to my sink so when I reach for my sponge to dampen it I can wash it quickly as well. Keeping it clean helps the longevity for sure and I’m already getting it wet so a quick wash is one of my fave hacks to do everyday.

Makeup Blenders to Erase Boo Boos

A dampened sponge makes it easy to “erase” makeup mistakes. Saturate a sponge with water, squeeze most of that water out, then lightly dab the sponge on any makeup boo boos. This works well with eye makeup and cream blush boo boos

My tip for makeup sponges wet for foundation and concealer dry for powder. I dip my dry sponges into loose powder and roll it onto my skin. Keeps the oil from coming through but doesn’t look caked on. I own a few sets of the Beauty Junkees sponges and love the different sizes and shapes something for everyone!

My fav hack would definitely have to be, if you over line your lipstick you can go in with your blender of your choice and make your lip edges crisp & ready for the perfect pout.

My favorite way to use a sponge is to get it wet with either water or setting spray for when I blend my concealer to carve my eyebrows or when I contour my face. I use the fine tips for my brows when wet and I keep one sponge dry for translucent powder when I bake my brows and under eyes and chisel my jawline.

My favorite tip or hack is to make sure it’s damp not soaked and bounce on the products. AND and I use it also for powders.

I love to use a makeup sponge when I am applying eyeliner to my waterline, so I dont tug on my undereye with my hands and also to prevent any creasing. I used to use my finger for this and it would leave a fingernail mark on my face! The sponge is a game changer.

I typically use makeup sponges with a pointed tip for better control around delicate areas like my inner corner or around my nose. Although I use my beauty sponges wet for base makeup application, I actually love using a dry sponge to apply my setting powder! The sponge absorbs less product and helps my undereye area look great!

I love makeup sponges, they help everything blend in seamlessly, tips would be make sure you take out excess water, work with product a little bit at a time, use pointed shape for smaller areas. Also love using a sponge to help press in setting spray.

1. After dampening the sponge wring it in a napkin to soak up the excess water I feel like having too much water in it can lighten up coverage of makeup applying my contour and blush with sponge makes it look more seamless

2. I personally do like the angled sponges better I feel like for the under eye area they really get into all the crevices

3. This one is more for sponge care lol when washing sponge please don’t dig your nails into it use your finger tips to get the soap into the sponge and really massage it in to get all the makeup out

As someone with dry skin that sometimes has difficulty with foundation application, I have to make sure that my sponge and skin are properly hydrated at all times to avoid caking or unflattering accentuating of my skin texture. I often will keep water or a hydrating mist nearby to keep my sponge moist (not too wet!) throughout my makeup application, and I also use a makeup sponge to gently re-hydrate my skin with a dewy setting spray or hydrating mist. Because of my dry, textured skin, makeup sponges are the best method that I have found to really make sure that liquid or cream products properly absorb into my skin and not just sit in an unflattering layer on top.

I have been trying to come up with my tips for sponges but honestly, it’s just to have a lot on hand! I like to have plenty of sponges because I use the for everything, foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, highlight, and powder! The more sponges the better for me 🙂

I love to use the sponges dampened makes your makeup look more flawless and like skin I prefer to use flat side of a sponge to apply foundation and set it with a round sponge. Also a good hack is to use a small sponge to blend under eye lines with powder to really set the concealer down in place .

My go-to sponge is the teardrop shape. There is so much you can do with it from applying foundation, concealer, even blending on your cream cheek products. I love that you can use the pointed side for more precision and the round edge to blend seamlessly.

My best tip and favorite way to use makeup sponges is to use them to press in my setting spray. I love to set my face with setting powder in my t-zone area. After I set with powder, I mist my skin with my favorite setting spray. I immediately use a damp makeup sponge to lightly press the setting spray into my skin. My makeup lasts so much longer and my skin has a dewy, natural, and healthy glow. This is so much better than using the setting spray alone.

I am a big fan of sponges! As someone with dry skin, I find applying liquid foundation with a brush leaves a lot of texture on my skin and doesn’t provide the best finish. I also find you can build up and achieve a fuller coverage with a sponge too, contrary to popular belief of a sponge applying sheerer coverage. I prefer to apply my liquid foundation with a damp sponge. I’ll run my sponge under water and squeeze about 10 times to make sure it is fully saturated. Then I make sure to wring it out well so the sponge is just damp instead of soaked. I think liquid foundation and a slightly damp sponge marry really well and provide a beautiful outcome. I enjoy the traditional egg shaped sponge as I find it the most comfortable to hold/use but I also enjoy a sponge with a flat edge. If you are going for a full beat and want to carve out your contour or bake, a flat edge really allows you to easily pack on powder and get the crisp edge you’re looking for. I think the most important tip is to clean your sponge! I personally clean my sponge before each makeup application. This will help reduce the risk of acne and keep things sanitary.

1. I love applying cream/liquid highlighter with a makeup sponge. I feel it gives my skin a more natural finish that looks super youthful and stunning. 2. Whenever I go a little too crazy with bronzer, I take some loose powder on a makeup sponge and just go over the bronzer to tame it down a bit. This helps me correct any mistakes I might make by putting on too much. 3. I always use a damp sponge to apply my foundation & powder. Before applying the powder to my face straight from the container, I like to just put the makeup sponge that has powder on it one time on my hand. This allows me to not over apply powder especially because I have dry skin. 4. After applying setting spray, I always take a sponge and press the spray into my face, this helps the powders melt into the skin as well as giving my skin a dewy finish and helping my Makeup last all day.

My favorite type of sponge is the egg shaped sponges with a flat side, which I use to do a full face. I like using the flat side for applying pore filling primer and pressing it into my face, as well as baking my under eye area. I use the rest of the sponge to apply foundation, concealer, as well as, cream blush and bronzer.

Tear drop sponges are my favorite. After I do all of my makeup up, I spray my face with setting spray and go back over my entire face with my sponge to blend everything together and make it look more seamless and natural.
